Business Development

Social media marketing is nothing to do with celebrity gossip, cat photos, or even the Trololo Guy… It’s about engaging with your clients.

Like so much of smart internet marketing, social media is an opportunity to change the perception of the online part of your organisation from an impersonal entity hiding behind a laptop screen, to a tangible, likeable business with which people can relate.

But you can’t use social media without having a sound strategy in place. I’ve created a simple outline to get you started, and it’s yours, for nothing…

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if someone arrived at your site, already convinced that they need your product?

All they want is a quick look over your prices, confirm that you have a money-back guarantee, and they’re ready to place their order.

It’s easier than you think – once you understand what I call the “virtual changing room”. It’s an essential part of most small business internet marketing strategies.

Watch the video below to find out what I’m talking about. Click below.

Most small businesses miss this and it costs them big time in the long run.

Here’s the Small Business Internet Marketing Weekly – where we summarise news and helpful links for small/medium sized business owners.

Now I thought I might do something a little different this week.

I wanted to keep this post pretty focused since I just posted an interview with the author from “Work The System”. It’s pretty much the most important thing I could share with you this week.

As a small business owner you need to understand systems and this guy “gets it”. Anyway, I posted the mp3 for you to download here: www.davidjenyns.com/interviews/work-the-system-review

Go ahead, check it out, and let me know what you think.

If you really want to stay on the super cutting edge, best to follow me on Twitter. I seem to post things there first and then they make it to this weekly post. :)

Get the publicity you need.

Your business should act as a funnel. Your customers enter at the top at your website and then your design, autoresponders, videos, and sales copy allow them to slide all the way down and come out the end as satisfied customers. All you have to do is ensure that they get to the top of that funnel.

Things which will already be pulling customers to your site are Google Maps, search engine optimization and social media. Your final step is to multiply that traffic and position yourself as an expert at the same time. Perhaps you shy away from attention, and don’t like to think of yourself as an expert or ‘guru’. However, you should pay attention to what I am about to explain, as one success story here can have a huge impact on your business and ultimately your bank account. Read More>>

It’s true, despite the globalisation of business brought about by the Internet, people still like to buy from local companies.

In fact, particularly in the service industry (dentists, restaurants, mechanics, etc.), customers will always have a need for businesses that operate on their doorstep.

You’d be forgiven for assuming that this is good news for the online Yellow Pages, until you realise that Google Maps has successfully inserted itself into the search process, making – in my opinion – Yellow Pages redundant.

Bad news for Yellow Pages.

Very GOOD NEWS for you.

So what do you think? Is the Yellow Pages dead? Remember to post your thoughts in the comments section below.

Also, did you see our Google Vs Yellow Pages video? I never get tired of watching it – it just reminds me where things are headed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4cCZ0DHcBQ

It's time to go social.

Welcome to the trendy part of dominating your competition. If you haven’t grown up with the internet, this might be an area you have been dreading. However, because of their enormous popularity, you cannot afford to ignore Facebook, Twitter and the like. Nowadays you are likely to see major corporations featuring their Facebook page instead of their official website in their advertisements.

It seems very obvious therefore that you simply have to get involved with these platforms and start using social media for marketing if you want your business to survive.

You may wonder why this important aspect has been left until close to the end of this report. The fact is, unless you’ve put in place your autoresponder series, optimized your website and created your videos, there is little point in spending time on social media. This is an important tool which will drive more traffic to your website, but make sure that you have done all the other necessary changes first. Then you can spend time planning your social media strategy. Read More>>

If I asked 100 website owners for the one thing they need more of, over 90% would say “traffic”.

But they’d be wrong… Dead wrong!

You could have the prettiest, most technologically advanced website in the world, and a million visitors a day, but if none of that translates into sales, then really, what’s the point?

A while back I figured out that there is one CRUCIAL aspect of your website that is more important than any amount of traffic. Want to know what it is? All you have to do is… click below:

Here’s the Small Business Internet Marketing Weekly – giving you some SEO updates that summarises news and helpful links for small/medium sized business owners.

Another week, another round of changes by Google – looks like we’re starting to see a pattern. Half arsed SEO doesn’t quite cut it anymore… but we already knew that ;)

In our earlier post, we learned about the importance of list building. Now we are going to discuss about setting up your very own autoresponder series. It is really quite easy.

How To Install

It’s smart to use a third-party autoresponder provider. The set-up process and on-going management is made much easier but just as importantly, you can be sure that the emails you send will actually reach your subscribers. This is because of the relationship that email management providers have built with the major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which allow your emails to get through without them being flagged as spam by mistake.

You can have a look at a few providers, but I recommend AWeber. It’s especially good for beginners because it has a ‘wizard’ which walks you through. The result is eye-catching and will allow your visitors to register the name and email address. Read More>>

Learn to drive traffic to your website.

Ok, ok, ok… we’re way past the point where you can successfully argue that your business doesn’t need a website. Even if the primary thrust of your business is offline, you simply must have an online presence.

We both know it, but the hard part is knowing where to start – it’s all too easy to become overwhelmed by all the different aspects of having the best online marketing strategies. Read More>>
