Every successful business needs a website. Even if your business is primarily run offline, it is essential that you have an online presence as well. There are two main reasons for this. The first is that customers expect you to have a website. If your prospective customer wants your phone number or wants to find out your opening times, he is far more likely to search the web (on his laptop or smartphone) than he is to pick up the Yellow Pages. The second reason is that if you search for a particular business on Google Maps, you’ll find a dozen suppliers within your area. If you’re not listed there, then your prospective customer will go to one of your competitors.
I’m sure you understand that your online marketing strategy needs to involve more than just a one-page website. Internet marketing is not something you do once and forget about. It’s an on-going endeavour which can easily turn into a full-time job. There are so many parts to it: there are autoresponders, blogs, link building, pod-casting, Pay-Per-Click, RSS, search engine optimization (SEO), social media, video marketing and webinars to name just some.
Just because it all seems too hard and is just too time consuming, this is no reason to give up before your start. If you do this, and refuse to be involved, I genuinely believe your business is heading towards failure. You just need to ask advice from someone who has been through all this before and can send you in the right direction.
I’ve got some good news for you. With just a few tweaks here and there, you can start making an enormous difference and will make it possible for you to keep up with your competitors or even overtake them. You don’t need to be an expert to start taking advantage of the great benefits the internet can offer.
I’ve worked out a seven step system which I’ve actually used in my own business and had success with. Each section is only two or three pages long and at the end of each section, there is a set of steps for you to take. Work through these sections as quickly or slowly as you want to, but if you only do one a week, in two months you should already see a big difference in your online business.
