Biggest SEO News This Month – Google Shakes Up Blog Networks

by David Jenyns

Here’s the Small Business Internet Marketing Weekly with a summary of news and helpful links for small/medium sized business owners. And WOW what a big week it has been! You’ll discover in this week’s SEO news that SEO is definitely not for the faint hearted – this week we’ve seen a massive shake up with Google’s latest Panda update.

There’s plenty of talk around the traps about how SEO as we know it is dead – but you always expect that ;) SEO is long from being dead and it’s really just a matter of responding to the changes.

We’ve found those following our methods have been safe since we’re following the rule “build a variety of links, from a variety of different sources, with variety of different anchor texts, pointing to a variety of pages on your site”. If you’ve been following the method… you’re safe.

I’m actually working on a new report (as we speak) about solid SEO campaign. Stay tuned for that since I’ll be looking for some proofreaders who want a preview copy :)

Anyway, I digress, here’s the news from this week:

The private blog network Build My Rank closes – one of the big casualties from the update

Why videos go viral – some good tips here

Lots to chew on I know… my biggest advice is don’t get caught up in the hype. People are quick to make conclusions in uncertain times and I’m of the opinion it’s best to measure twice and cut once. Take a breath and wait till the dust settles before doing anything brash – and if you’re really in trouble, just reply to this email and we’ll do our best to help.

Just keep an eye out for my emails and posts and I’ll steer you in the right direction.

Oh, and I just want to share that MelbourneVideoProduction.com.au is really starting to take off. Here’s a video we just completed for Australia’s largest parenting portal – Kidspot.

Thanks Dave,
Any updates on how the blog network crackdown is going would be greatly appreciated.

Chers,

All these new additions to the algorithm tend to be a bit confusing, so thanks for helping to sort it all out. We need your cool head in these changing times.
