It’s clear, the face of online business is changing and anyone who has you believe otherwise is just pulling the wool over your eyes. Recently I’ve been getting an increased number of calls from “potential” clients with unrealistic expectations on what SEO can provide.

Sadly, there are quite a few unethical companies selling SEO aggressively as the “holy grail” to answer all of a business owner’s troubles. They then sign them up for a 12 month contract, milk what they can from them, fail to deliver and then move onto the next sucker.

It’s sad to watch and often means when they come to us unsatisfied they often have unrealistic expectations. We try and help re-educate them but you know what they say “you can lead a horse to water…”

The truth is, there’s more to a successful business than just “SEO” and there’s more to successful online marketing than “SEO”. This has been reinforced with the recent series of Google updates (Penguin, Panda and alike). You need a solid, complete, long lasting game plan.

You need to be working with someone who “gets it”.

Don’t be sold a pipe dream… focus on what’s important. Spend your marketing dollars wisely and focus on return on investment (ROI) and quit worrying about the number of #1 rankings or the number of backlinks built. What good is a ranking if it’s on a term that no one searches for… and what good are 100 crappy backlinks?

Anyway, I’ll do my best to help you make the right decision – just send me a message or give me a call at 1300 662 979. I’ll either help or at the very least point you in the right direction.

And now for this week’s news:
