I’m curious, are you a lists person?

As you may or may not know, I’ve recently moved house (down by the water) and have been experimenting working from home, and with it comes the need for better business productivity. We still have the office in St Kilda and the team’s going in but it’s a good way to get me out of the office and out of the craziness of the day to day.

In fact, I’m finding myself quite productive. I’ve got my “to do” list and I’m just checking things off. Writing scripts, setting up marketing and directing the team. This got me thinking – do you know one of the big secrets to our success? It’s working on the most important things and getting them done!

No fluffing about. You know what needs to be done (especially using the technique I talked about last week), so “just do it”.

If you’re keen to get your website cranking – just do it!
If you’re keen to get some video done – just do it!
If you need a strategic plan for the year – just do it!

This year is moving quickly and we’re almost done with Q1. Take my lead, identify what work needs to be done, put it in priority order, and then get to work! Quit mucking around.

Want something done? Just do it!

Now here’s a few interesting things I spotted over the past week:

Where’s Google Going Next {a great TED talk with Larry Page}

Google Will Look At Your Other Sites When You Get A Manual Action {stay safe}

Why PR is more important than ever for SEOs {yup}

Google’s Matt Cutts: Determining If Your Site Ranking Is Result Of A Penalty Is “Tricky”

A simple interactive timeline of Google updates and events {good for debugging}

Font Men – SXSW 2014 Official Selection {video marketing rocks}

The success of one of South Korea’s most popular food bloggers {become a celebrity}

Google’s Attack On Guest Blogging Reignites Irrational Link Removal Craze – we love google ๐Ÿ˜‰

And how about our news?

#1. We’ve been recording a video business card for Tim Reid from Small Business Big Marketing (Australia’s #1 market podcast). Check out the quick behind the scenes video here: www.trackinglinks.wistia.com/medias/n9nlvlwxog

We’ll be releasing the full one in the next couple of weeks. And of course, if you’d like one just visit www.melbournevideoproduction.com.au

#2. We’re moving offices (as I mentioned before) – looks like we’ve found a place and we’ll be rebuilding the Melbourne Video Production studio from the ground up! Exciting!

#3. Did you see that Key Person of Influence competition we were running? We picked our winner – Congrats to Camera Burgess from Sydney. We’ll be making you an all expenses paid VBC (video business card). And we’ll be sure to share it once it’s done.

#4. We’re getting a new phone system – now that I’m starting to work more and more from home, we’re about to install a new cloud hosted PBX. It allows our 1300 662 979 number to have menu structure and then route calls to the relevant team member no matter where they are! If you haven’t looked at VOIP in a while, they’ve come a long way!

#5. I’ve picked a date for my next workshop – I haven’t quite figured out the name but it’s kind of like the SEO Method 4 but I don’t want to call it “the SEO method” since it’s an evolution beyond SEO. It’ll be on the 16th of May and we’ll be running it in Melbourne. If you’re interested, let me know – I’ll post you some further details next week.

#6. Do you remember how I spoke at Andrew Griffiths’ the Business of Professional Speaking Workshop? Well we’re about to turn it into a home study course and you can get a sneak peek here: www.trackinglinks.wistia.com/medias/jy0643k1wl

Ok there’s actually a bit more news but I’ll have to save it for next time ๐Ÿ˜‰

Your online marketing coach,

Next week I’m off to speak at Dale Beaumont’s Business Blueprint at the end of this week – are you going? Be sure to come up and say “hi”.

Curious what someone might say after they’ve been personally coached by me for 12 months? Watch this short video to find out: www.trackinglinks.wistia.com/medias/pocsau1h8q
